New Peer-Led Work Group (Victoria BC) Thursdays 7 to 8:30/9pm *Begins October 9*

A new Peer Led Work Group made up of people with BPD (or BPD traits) is going to be meeting on Thursday evenings from 7pm until 8:30 or 9 to work through “The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook: Practical DBT Exercises for Learning Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation and Distress Tolerance”.   Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was developed by Marsha Linehan and is very effective at helping people manage their overwhelming emotions.  This skills workbook provides exercises for learning concepts of DBT and putting them into action.

The workbook can be purchased for $30 at the Wednesday night BPD Support Group or at the Thursday night Peer-Led Work Group, or can be ordered through most bookstores or online.

The meetings will begin with a brief mindfulness, meditation or grounding exercise and ‘check-in.’ Then we’ll go over areas of the reading/exercises and work through the material together. We will end off by deciding what will be covered the next week. Then tea, coffee and chatting:)

NOTE:  this is not a full DBT program and is not facilitated by trained professionals

For more information please contact Alee at and/or Amanda at New members are welcome at any time.

  1. congratulations on the new program. You may be aware that our program was on hold while we awaited funds. Can I ask how the program you are running will be funded? thanks, hazel

    • Hi Hazel: this isn’t an actual program. A couple of people who attend the support group decided they would like to go through the workbook exercises together and they’ve invited others to join them. So no funding required. Attendees just need to purchase the same DBT-based workbook. A great peer-led initiative!
